Easter Egg: Companion Cube from Portal Appears in RIFT!
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, the guys at Valve should be blushing red right about now. We mentioned our new game, R.I.F.T., and its similarity to 2007’s hit puzzle-physics game Portal before, but it wasn’t until today that we discovered another homage: an Easter Egg cheat that generates heart-stamped boxes identical to the one players took care of (and then well, if you played the game… you know what happens) during a level of Portal. Check out the video below to see it in action, then hit the jump to see how we did it
R.I.F.T. is the first game we’re launching on Candystand that features Mochicoins, a form of microtransactions growing popular among flash game developers to provide additional premium content to players. While all twenty levels of the game are fully playable without having to pay a cent, you can unlock additional content like levels and cheats with the service.

Signing up for a Mochi account is free (you can even use Facebook Connect), and coins can be used across any game that supports Mochicoins — R.I.F.T. is the only game on Candystand currently featuring them, but we may be launching more soon.
With R.I.F.T., you have the option of purchasing a Medium Difficulty Level Pack (10 new stages), a Hardcore Difficulty Level Pack (10 new stages), an Invincibility Cheat, a Skip Level Cheat and the Spawn Cube Cheat (this is the one that generates the heart-stamped ‘companion cube’).
Want to test it out? The developers have included a free ‘cheat’ that you can access without a credit card. If you sign in with your Mochi account, you’ll be able to unlock the Pastry Skin for the entire game, which turns every level into Candyland (how appropriate!).
What do you think of Mochicoins? Are you willing to pay a dollar or two for new levels or cheats?
